My name is Chanaël, also known as Chanastral, a French freelance illustrator with a boundless love for visual language.

Hypersensitive and blessed with an overflowing imagination, I enjoy playing with symbols and colors to create poetic and dreamlike visual metaphors. Drawing has become my second language—intuitive and creative—allowing me to express myself universally with gentleness and kindness. Then, it’s in conceptual illustration that I particularly flourish, having fun exploring and translating even sometimes complex and abstract subjects into narrative images. Thus, I put my sensitivity and creativity at the service of publishing, press and advertising, helping companies to convey their messages and values at a glance through striking illustrations.

My work is often an invitation to daydream, introspection and reflection. I regularly address themes such as the relationship to oneself, human relationships, well-being and spirituality. For this, I draw my inspiration mainly from different folklores, daily life, nature and emotions. But I’m also deeply influenced by narratives arts of popular culture such as literature, cinema and video games, which I am passionate about.
